Nine people were taken to the hospital after they were exposed to carbon monoxide in a Commerce City home on Wednesday afternoon according to the South Adams County Fire Department First responders were called about people feeling sick in a multi-family home near East th Place and Olive Street at p m agency officers stated There were no carbon monoxide alarms in the home but people living there called after feeling dizzy and getting headaches spokesperson Maria Carabajal commented Carbon monoxide is an colorless and odorless gas that can come from space heaters generators furnaces and fireplaces and exposure can be fatal Fire crews detected high levels of carbon monoxide in the home and evacuated the homeowners and nine people were taken to the hospital for medicinal evaluation The happening is under research but the leak was likely caused by the furnace in the home which was in the past few days serviced Carabajal revealed Sign up to get crime news sent straight to your inbox each day
